Beau, Legislators Expand Crackdown on Crime-Ridden Properties

Beau stood with legislators to introduce legislation expanding the successful nuisance property shutdown program. The program, which has already rehabilitated over 140 properties, targets “nuisance” properties where drug and vice crimes take place, forcing property owners to be accountable or face legal action. The bill would expand the definition of nuisance to include gun and violent crimes as well as gang activity. The bill would also increase penalties on property owners that fail to clean up their residences.
