The News Journal: Delaware crime: Frankford drug hubs closed

FRANKFORD — Lewis and Elma Gray’s long neighborhood nightmare is over.

State authorities announced Tuesday that two notorious drug dens around this tiny Sussex County town have been closed and their owners evicted, with court orders in place to ensure a quick cleanup and sale.

For the Grays, the action means they’ll no longer have to put up with seeing drug dealers openly visit the home down the street on Delaware Avenue.

“You always knew when it was Friday, or the end of the month” because of the buyers stopping by, said Elma Gray, a retired school bus driver. “It was always the same people.”

Both the Delaware Avenue home, located in town, and another on Blueberry Avenue, just outside Frankford limits, were owned by members of the Foreman family, some members of which have faced drug and other charges in years past.

A large raid in 2006 led to the arrests of three people and seizure of 27 grams of crack cocaine, 5 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $77,838 in suspected drug money.
