Delmarva Now: Cyber bullying ‘a 24/7 issue’
LEWES — As cyber bullying makes national headlines, area school districts are taking steps to prevent intimidation and harassment among students.
“Cyber bullying is such a big thing; it’s a 24/7 issue nowadays,” said Cape Henlopen School Board member Camilla Conlon.
While the district has always had a strict policy on bullying, she said this year there has been additional focus on the subject. The goal is to encourage more positive use of text messages, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.
“We’ve enabled our administrators and our teachers and we’ve (let them know) of programs so they can be aware of (bullying) and see the signs of it,” Conlon said.
In October, Cape held an anti-bullying campaign and held a rally attended by Attorney General Beau Biden.
