Beau helps launch Veterans & Military Families for Obama
Vice President Joe Biden’s son Beau was in Norfolk Thursday to kickoff a campaign event and spoke with 10 On Your Side about the military.
Biden is reaching out to the military at a time when Congress could have to make huge cuts to the defense budget. In addition to being the oldest son of Joe Biden, Beau Biden is a Major in the Delaware Army National Guard and the Attorney General of that state.
President Obama is making a targeted effort to court the votes of military veterans and their families, believing the constituency is in play for Novemberand could make a difference in key battleground states.
Virginia has been declared a battleground state in this year’s race for president.
Both sides are working hard to gain the support of a key constituency: military veterans. Virginia is home to 823,000 vets, which is more than 10% of the state’s population.
Beau Biden, the oldest son of Vice President Joe Biden is in Norfolk today kicking off the official Veterans and Military Families for Obama campaign. He says it started as a grassroots effort and the campaign is recognizing that effort tonight. Co-chairs have been named across the state, including Terry Ellen Carter from southwest Virginia.
Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, an Iraq war veteran and the son of Vice President Joe Biden, said the president has been “a strong and responsible leader in a complicated and often dangerous world.”
The son of Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to be in Fayetteville on Monday for a campaign event focusing on veterans.
Beau Biden will be the featured speaker at the event, called North Carolina Veterans and Military Families for Obama, said Cameron French, a spokesman for President Obama’s re-election campaign in the state.
