A Note from Beau on Veterans Day

Dear Friend,

As our nation pauses today to commemorate all those who have served, I’d like to make a small but significant request of you.

I learned many things from our brave men and women in the military. Above all else, I saw the effect that one person’s deployment has on the rest of a family. Our veterans volunteered to serve their country; their family members sacrificed to make that service possible. The families often endure serious hardships while a loved one is overseas: as big as job loss or health problems, as small as missed soccer games or dance recitals. They all take a toll on the families back home.

So today, when we honor those who have served and state our commitment to give them the care they’ve earned, please keep in mind the sacrifices made by the people in the veterans’ lives. If you know a family member of a veteran — be it a spouse, parent, child or sibling — take a moment to thank that person, too.
