Protecting Kids
Beau ran for Attorney General to protect those who cannot protect themselves, especially children. That’s why one of the first things he did was to push for tough mandatory penalties for those who possess child pornography and create the Child Predator Task Force, which puts prosecutors and police side by side to track down and…
Politico: State AGs target mortgage mess
America’s free markets work only when there is one set of rules for everyone — and everyone plays by those rules.
It is now clear, however, that many in the mortgage finance industry ignored the rules over the past decade. This led to a breakdown in our housing market and in the market for mortgage-backed securities.
AmericaBlog: Inside the Schneiderman and Biden investigation of the foreclosure crisis
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden have a joint op-ed in Politicoyesterday. The dynamic duo have lead the charge to investigate the nation’s largest banks around robosigning, foreclosure fraud, and mortgage securitization fraud. They’ve also resisted a deal being worked out by Iowa AG Tom Miller and the Obama administration to grant a broad release of liability for matters connected to foreclosure fraud which haven’t even been investigated. They have been joined in that effort by a few other Justice Democrats, including Nevada’s Catherine Cortez Masto, Minnesota’s Lori Swanson, and Kentucky’s Jack Conway (Kamala Harris of California has left the Miller/Obama talks, but not joined the independent investigation of Schneiderman and Biden).
WGMD: AG’s office to hold Foreclosure Prevention Workshops in Seaford & Wilmington
The Attorney General’s Mortgage Fraud Task Force is sponsoring free statewide housing workshops on November 8th in Seaford and November 9th in Wilmington to help Delawareans who are at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure, Attorney General Beau Biden announced today. The workshops are offered to facilitate loan modifications, reduce foreclosures, and provide information to help residents stay in their homes and avoid foreclosure fraud. Since 2009, more than 1,200 homeowners have attended 20 workshops sponsored by the Task Force in conjunction with the Delaware State Housing Authority and State Bank Commissioner.

Thank you Delaware General Assembly
This year’s General Assembly session just came to a close and Beau expressed his gratitude to state legislators for their partnership in protecting Delaware communities. Legislators helped pass a number of bills drafted by Beau’s office that are either awaiting Governor Markell’s signature or have already been signed into law.
Remarks – National Center for Victims of Crime – 2011 National Conference
Thank you. It is truly a privilege to address this group. Everyone in this room has made a choice on behalf of someone who wasn’t given one – the choice to dedicate your work, your voice, and your life to victims of crime. That’s not hyperbole – this is not work that you leave at the office. Thank you for your willingness to take on a fight that, sadly, never ends.
What we can do to stop foreclosures
Since 2007, there have been more than 22,000 foreclosures in Delaware. And this year looks like it could be worse than last year. The only thing more heartbreaking than these statistics are the stories we see in the news and in our communities every day, stories of families and entire neighborhoods devastated by this crisis….
