Keeping kids safe online

My husband Beau always says that his job is to stand up for those who need it most.

That’s why protecting kids is so important to him — and, these days, that means helping to keep them safe online.

Our kids aren’t yet old enough to use the Internet, but we talk to parents every day who are worried about what their children are doing — and who might be targeting them — in cyberspace.

Beau helps announce new trail

Yesterday, Beau joined representatives from DNREC, Delaware Greenways, and other elected officials and environmental advocates at a press conference announcing a project to complete a trail at Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington. “One of the best things about living in Delaware is that we are blessed with wonderful natural resources, including beautiful parks and trails that my family – like your families and so many others — frequently enjoy.”

On the Campaign Trail August 19

Yesterday, Beau kicked off a full day around the state with a speech to the Caesar Rodney Rotary Club in Smyrna. In his remarks, Beau described the philosophy that has guided his work as attorney general: “Tell the people what you want to do, and then do it.” Beau talked about the many accomplishments of…

Biden Teaching Kids to be Safe Online

The Attorney General was at Camp Barnes last week to give an internet security presentation to the campers. The Coastal Point printed a story about Beau’s presentation. Two Great Events in Sussex County

Yesterday was another busy day for Beau in Sussex County.

He helped kick off the Delaware Gulf Aid in the evening, a concert fundraiser for an environmentally sensitive area of Louisiana hurt by the BP oil spill. Earlier in the day, Beau joined Gov. Markell and House Speaker Robert Gilligan at the re-election announcement for House Majority Leader Pete Schwartzkopf.

Door to Door with Beau

The summer heat is in full blaze, and it’s time for the campaign to heat up as well.

Beau spent Wednesday afternoon knocking on doors in Wilmington, saying hello and addressing any questions that people had for him.

Getting the chance to meet and listen to the concerns of Delaware’s citizens is one of Beau’s favorite parts of running for office, and going door to door is the perfect opportunity to do that.

July 4th

The Fourth of July isn’t just a day in Delaware – it’s an entire weekend celebrating the birthday of our great country. Beau was thrilled to do three days of parades, ending up in each of our state’s three counties.

It started by walking in the Independence Day parades in Laurel on the 3rd, then Hockessin on the 4th, and finally zig-zagging through Smyrna/Clayton on the 5th.

All three events were extremely well attended, despite scorching heat that had enveloped the state, and Beau got the chance to meet hundreds of Delawareans who came to watch. A special thank you to our volunteers who all braved the scorching weather!

Cape Gazette: Biden seeks death penalty in Spicer slaying

Attorney General Beau Biden said his office would seek the death penalty against Derrick Powell, the Cumberland, Md. man accused of fatally shooting Georgetown Patrolman Chad Spicer.

“Seeking the death penalty is one of the most important decisions an attorney general makes,” Biden said in a press release Tuesday, June 29. State prosecutors Martin Cosgrove and Paula Ryan have treated the case against Powell, 22, as capital-eligible, but had not specified the sentence they would pursue.
